Standby power.
Engineered in.
Backup generators, solar systems, and battery storage for Vancouver Island homes and businesses. Designed during construction or retrofitted into finished properties — coordinated with the rest of the home's electrical and automation system so the lights stay on and the home keeps running.
Backup. Storage. Generation.
Standby generators
Kohler residential and commercial standby generators — automatic transfer switches, sound enclosures, and integration with the home automation system so the homeowner never thinks about it.
Sizes we typically install
- 14kW – essential loads only (lights, fridge, internet)
- 20kW – mid-size home, partial-load coverage
- 26kW – full-house residential standby
- 38kW–48kW – estates and complex multi-panel installations
Battery storage
Tesla Powerwall and Generac PWRcell battery systems — paired with solar or used standalone for grid-outage resilience and time-of-use rate optimisation. Whisper-quiet, indoor or outdoor mounted.
What it does
- Whole-home backup for grid outages (silent — no generator noise)
- Solar self-consumption (use your own power before exporting)
- Time-of-use rate optimisation (charge cheap, run on battery during peak)
- Integration with Crestron / Lutron for orchestrated load management
Solar power
Roof-mounted and ground-mounted solar PV systems for Vancouver Island homes. Designed for the coastal climate (south-southwest facing optimisation, shading analysis, snow load), with battery storage and grid-tie options.
Common configurations
- Grid-tied with net metering (sell back to BC Hydro)
- Grid-tied with battery backup (resilience + net metering)
- Off-grid with generator backup (remote properties)
- Hybrid: solar + battery + standby generator (full resilience)
Designed in, not bolted on.
The cleanest backup-power installations are designed at the architectural stage. The generator pad gets located during the site plan. The fuel line, transfer switch, and sub-panel get drawn before the trades arrive. Solar panels get specified with the roof structure rather than added later.
For finished properties, the conversation starts with: which loads matter? Once we know whether you want full-house backup or just essentials, the system size and cost follow naturally.
And critically: the same team that installs is the team that services. Annual maintenance contracts (oil, filters, batteries, load testing) are part of WennerCare. Generators that aren't tested under load are the ones that fail to start in the storm — we don't let that happen on our installs.
